Vaccume Bag Flat Base

Post by hadley »

Hi All:
I have made several skis and snowboards now using a vaccume press and am coming up with great skis, but two main problems.

First, my bases are not perfectly flat. I am using formica with Chemlease for my bottom surface. This sits on my profile table. the problem is that my basses still are turning out slightly convex. I was thinking of investing in a thicker brand of formica. Does anybody have any advice or experience.

Secondly, I am ending up with wrinkles of resing on tip and tail. As I lay my boards on the formic flat and then transfer it to the profile table I get wrinkles thay can be hard to work out. I am using a formica roller to work out the wrinkles and trying to make the boards quickly to keep the resin movable. It is much easier to work the skis flat and then transfer to the profile table. I am using a variable geometry vaccume table because it lets me change the design for each student.

Any advice.
