11.21.09 Hourglass near Mt. Rose

Allyson and I took Squeak out for her first backcountry ski tour today; she's 8 months old and did great! Brian K. (with home-built skis) and Ben R. joined us for the fun. About 12-15" of light snow over zero base, so a few rocks and shubs to be had -- my kind of skiing! Some wind loading on lee slopes high on the ridge, but nothing of a concern. It was rather crowded, and slopes on/near/around Hourglass were tracked by earlier afternoon. Still more good skiing further out on north slopes, Rose Knob area and beyond.
Brian, those look homebuilt!...and why are you carrying them?

Ben and I having a nerd conversation.

Squeak, are you having fun yet?
