Differences in fiberglass weights

I am in the process of ordering materials for my first boards. And I am a little overwhelmed with the differences between the weights of fiberglass. I know the differences between biax, triax, etc. but what about the weights? what advantages/disadvantages do they have? Would the heavier weights make the boards stiffer?

The heavier the glass the stronger and stiffer it is.

Something right around ~20oz seems to generally be the weight of choice for homebuilders. We use 22oz purchased from FiberglassSupply.com.

I use 19oz triax on most of my boards.
It's my understanding that the thickness of your core has a much more significant impact on stiffness than the weight of your glass. Look at a pair of cross country race skis. Stiff as shit and light. I think they use 6 oz glass most of the time. But, I could break one in half. Also the heavier glass you use, the more epoxy you use, so the entire laminate is heavier than just the difference in glass weight.
