I know a lot of you use tape to hold your tipspacers to the core during lay up but am not sure what kind. are people using regular masking tape ? some sort of adhesive FG tape? I'm sick of using superglue.

i used masking tape in small quantity. seemed to saturate and wet out.

Ive used super glue with a couple of short lines of fiberglass taken from a scrap piece of triax'. Ive also seen a friend, Dr Delam, use biax drywall tape (I think that's what it was). Personally, I think its easier to just place them during layup. Then after you lay up the top sheet, double check the contact by pushing them tight to the core.

we use carpet tape.

Same here. Carpet tape. Quick and easy, strong hold and does not show in finished product (tape on bottom of core) unless one used clear base material.

I used a couple dabs of hot glue works fine

I like the idea I got from three31. Staple the very edge of the sidewall and tipspacer together and it gets cut off with the flashing. I haven't tried it yet but I would think that it would keep it nice and tight.

What kind of carpet tape is that? Is it a mesh style? The only type I have seen is double sided stuff solid.

That's what we do, the resin is enough to hold it in place.

Carpet tape looks like a good idea.

Ever had any bonding/delam issues with it though?

Can the epoxy penetrate through carpet tape to the core and tip spacer?
