This is the second set of skis my brother and I have built so far and each has been a learning experience. They are at the shop getting their first tune as I type and the storm forecast looks promising for their inaugural run. I am hoping for a big stable platform for fresh and cut up snow.
The dimensions are: 139-110-126 194cm long
Core: 12.5mm tapered to 2mm at tip and tail. Center flat spot = 10cm forward and 20 cm rearward from center.
I did most of my measurements for the core with the template I made for the skis base. When cutting out the rough shape of the ski I almost cut the core too small as I forgot to add the space the edges take up.

Yes the sidewalls are wood (Birch to be exact). The cores were made by ripping strips of Birch and Fir. (Fir is in the center of the core. I did not use a composite sidewall as I didn’t want to worry about bonding issues with the sidewalls until I have come up with a shape and profile I like. I will seal the sidewalls with a spar varnish to prevent water intrusion into the core.

Was up yesterday and the snow fell (level also). Went out one of the lower gates and had fun. So much so that I went to the car to switch out skis for the bigger skis and took several more laps. Good times ahead with all the storms coming in. Will be there on tuesday and wednesday, you? Heres to hoping for continued snow level dropping and the expected 3 - 5 feet by wednesday PM!
Now heading out to the shop to start another pair. Got bit by the rocker and big size craze. 180 CM 140-115-130. Not sure about camber or flat but will have the early rise (rocker) tip and tail.

RA, as a matter of fact they were named after somewhere. I hope to get them out there soon! Good luck with your next set.
