Asymetric camber?

Post by collin »

I don't think any one has brought this up yet... and this could be stupid since I've never skied on a negative camber ski

Good idea or bad--- a ski with slight negative camber in the front and a normal positive camber in the tail. I was think that this might allow you to have a ski with a normal sidecut that has some of the turning and powder/crud benefits of a like the UpperCrusts with slightly better hard snow performance.

So my argument is this:
Neg camber up front -> float in pow/bust through crud
Pos camber in back -> edge contact
Positve sidecut -> even with the neg camber in the front if you turn the ski on edge you get some contact in the front

I haven't completely convinced myself though...
Thoughts?

I was also thinking that a swallow tail would be good with this camber setup...

I was thining the opposite. (skis with rocker like surfboards) These things have to be tested to know for shure how it works. Build it and test it!
