Hey all,

Anybody have advice on the minumum thickness for 2" x 2" square steel tubing in a side-loading press frame? I want to avoid using angle iron to reinforce the inside of the tubing.

I've admired G-man's design using 2"x2" tubing & 2" angle iron. Unfortunately, I've been unable to contact him on the specifics & I need to make a few more posts before I can list his pics for you to see.

I can wrap my brain around the mechanics but I'm a weak on the physics. (I get a queezy feeling in my gut guessing the structural limits of something that could blow up in my face!)

If anybody out there has good info or links on the matter, please drop me a line! Thanks!

Once again, I'm trying to figure out a good wall thickness for this application of square tubing.
