Hayak: early january

Place: Hayak ski area, Snoqualmie Pass
Snow: Pow pow and crud
My first pair of homebuilt skis.
Dimentions roughly 125-95-110/183cm/pine core
Up on the slope these guys were soft! It felt like there wasn’t any ski behind me. On the groomers it felt like I had the stability of snollerblades. Off the runs they did much better but still felt way too soft. It should be said that I am used to skiing 190s with straight tails. My home pressed planks are about 10 cm shorter and have turned up tails.
That night I took the bindings off and remounted a pair of naxos farther forward. After another day at the pass and a trip to Montana the skis were really fun. The shallow sidecut and softness was a blast in powder and they also did better on hardpack too, until my bindings broke and I had to switch back to my K2s.
With 15 holes drilled between the two bindings these skis are starting to look a lot like pegboard. I don’t know if I will bother putting bindings back on these.
