isn't ubuntu's gutenprint driver great for overcoming the paper size limitations of windows drivers?!
you'd never be able to print paper that long with this printer in windumb.

except for DJing and CAD i never regret switching to ubuntu!

Honestly, I didn't pay much attention to the printer driver. Just installed it, working on the first try! I'm using a printer format called "banner". Which prints as long as you wants, BUT with some extra feeding! It feeds almost an extra print out, blank! I don't know why? I have to look into that some day. But the printed area looks alright.
Downside: it eats alot of ink!

How is the printer you use called.

@Jan: jep DJing means Disk Jockey -ing. I'm playing at some local clubs occasionally.
You should try the Gutenprint driver, perhaps that'll solve your issues. It's listed in the software-centre.

No, but tanks. I ment the one that OAC uses. One that can print verry long pieces of paper.

any printer can in ubuntu the one OAC has can't do that in Windows, but mine can, plus it's A3 so also fits snowboards.
btw, the one OAC has is some Lexmark Impact S305 printer...nothing special. Just dye inks...problem with them is they fade really fast under UV light. Better get a printer that uses pigment inks.

Correct chris! You know all my set up! Even when it is camouflaged to "Topsheet-master-3000!
I was just after the banner option. (for a cheap price) I think it will work in windows aswell...(haven't tried it). I will use PU-varnish on top which hopefully will eliminate the UV issue.

But sure do suck A LOT of ink when printing top sheet!

I made this one as a full topsheet , and the printer start complaining about the black ink was about to be out! One will never be 100% happy...


Another "mistake" i did was that I created this picture in GIMP which is great photo editing program. But it can't do smooth edges around, let's say letters. So I wasn't really happy with the final result...so now I'm trying to do the same trick in "Inkscape". A vector graphic editor. (Open Source). This type of computer usage is Not my type of homeground... I'm on a steep steep learning curve...I'm pretty close to just paint the topsheet in black or any other colour...

unfortunately the banner option isn't a guarantee that you can print as long paper as you want in windows. i had to learn that the hard way (bought four different printers till i finally settled for the epson). still the gutenprint driver is by far the best printer driver i've used so far.

..and, yes, the gutenprint is on. At least when I'm using GIMP (where it origin from). I will see what's happening with Inkscape? I haven't print anything from there yet

you should get a continuous ink system (often referred to as cis or ciss) for your printer. saves a lot of money on ink and you don't have to worry when printing larger stuff

Is that something you can get to any Inkprinter? Looks like you can get it for every brand except Lexmark!!

hmm, looks like you're right...but you could always go the diy route and make one yourself.

Fantastic! :-) Another DIY project...

And suddenly there where action in the factory!
After spending around two weeks (even more) struggling with either the graphics program or the graphics itself or the printer (forget the "Topsheet-master-3000", it suck). In the end I did all the work in OpenOffice Draw, where I do all other stuff. Gimp and Inkscape might be good programs, but in combination with me...no.
Anyway...after getting two pieces of topsheet, just regular printer paper, I had everything else ready for pressing. So of I went. Pressing is done. I will let them rest for a couple of days before i cut them out. The ambition was to make them with zero camber. But the outcome seems to be a slight rocker. It was the same thing happened on the "OAC-8's"(slight rocker), but with camber. That needs some investigation.

The specs.
I forgot in the info, the core is 2 - 8,5 - 2 (mm), two layers of FG Triax under the core and one above. I also "chicked" with one reinforcement bit for the bindings.
Triax = 650 g/m²
