I tried the extra triax layer in the bindings area, I never had any problem with bindings retention as I use inserts but wanted to add some safety factor in case I have to move the bindings or if I sell my pair...

How do you think this extra layer in the middle of the ski affects the flex pattern... basically you add a layer where the ski is already at his stiffest and this layer is even more effective as the core is at its thicker...

So little bending happens in the middle of the ski that I bet you couldn't tell the difference between a ski with the extra layer and one without (all else equal). Your boot clipped into the bindings effectively prevents any upwards bending of the ski there.
