Falls- I hope you know Sketchup is free. Sketchup Pro is not- but you probably only need that if you must export DXF.
I'm a slacker who needs dxf for the CNC router to make templates and molds. I'm also at work right now!
Is it ignorant to ask what "parametric control of curves" is?

Well, I'm determined to get DXF out of Sketchup for free, so stay tuned.

While google sketchup does look like a good option, I didn't review this thread for a few days, and I spent some time on Turbocad perfecting the Bezier curve function. It is perfect for what I am trying to do, and the free trial does a .dxf export as well. Once I figured it out, it is actually very easy to do on turbocad. As for sidecut templates, snocad will do the job perfectly ad is very easy to use. Thanks for the info guys.

"parametric control" is a fancy way of saying you can control the parameters.
radius and arc length, degrees of sweep, start&end angles, etc, are all parameters of a curve.
