I've gotten carbide bits from centurion tools (http://www.centuriontools.com/) and they have been very good quality and helpful.
Here is a link to a chipload calculator. I've burnt up a few bits before figuring this out.

I hadn't heard of 'chipload' before (lots of new territory ahead of me, I think), but it looks like there is some good discussion on the link. I couldn't un-zip the calculator, but I'll keep working at it.

After reading your post I was truly amazed with the looks and hopefully the performance of the machine!
One thing was stated that I'm amazed that now one responded to.... You said you were looking for a place to house it... How about my shop?? Best of luck with the building department. I hear the permit fees have gone throught the roof (speaking of El Dorado County).

Yes, permit fees have gone crazy in the last year. They're less for a shop than they are for residential construction, though. Construction has dramatically slowed here, like most everywhere else. The building department only saw one permit application in March... for the whole county. Due to last year's forest fires, there are 300 log trucks a day running past my house. Lumber prices at the local mill are truly dirt cheap because they don't have room for logs or lumber. So, at least building materials aren't terribly high.
Anyway, no, you can't have my cnc machine... unless, of course, you happen to talk with my wife. She'll let you have it as long as you are willing to come and get it out of her living room. Kinda reminds me of the time that she finally kicked the new Harley out of the living room (sounded really great when I fired it up inside the house and roared out the front door
) . I kinda like my unusual taste in furniture.

Seems like someone should offer that service. With so many folks acquiring cnc machines, I bet it will happen before too long. The thought did enter my mind a while back, but I have a long learnin' curve ahead on me, I thinkin'. But, who knows. I'm glad you like the machine.

. A nice thing about having one machine is that it can replicate itself in about a day... parts anyway. Assembly will still take a bit of time.
