Hey Gang,
I got some Christmas money burning a hole in my pocket... So instead of buying more ski building stuff I figure I should upgrade my ~100year old ski tuning stuff. What do you guys use for ski vices to wax your skis? looks like there are many options out there but basically they all look all the same to me. Also, do you have a preferred vendor?

I have the SWIX world cup setup, have had it for many years. The clamp doesn't go wide enough for even my skinniest skis, so I only use the end supports now. Still works good enough for scraping, although I do wish the clamp would work, the skis can move around a little. Ski widths considered "normal' have grown a lot over the last ~10 years...
I have an old Swix vise that I got 30 plus years ago that only accommodates skinny skis so I use one of these boot jacks. http://svst.com/Shop/Vice-Accessories/A ... -Jack.html It is great for skis with any kind of sidewall and any width. Once I started using this boot jack I haven't been able to justify buying a new vice.
I use wood blocks for tip and tail supports that are quick and easy to adjust for length and ski thickness.
For skis without bindings on them yet I use these suction cups in a vise.

They work awesome and are great for when you need to profile sidewalls without a vise in the way.

I have the yellow Toko version. Pretty sure I bought it from Tognar. Can do waist up to 100mm but wider skis can just balance on the top of all 3 pieces for wax/tune.
