boot center and binding location

Post by MadRussian »

I read somewhere here boot center should be 50/40 or something along those lines. To my understanding this means the in different ski length boot center and binding location that will be and in a different spot ( I'm not talking about rockers or symmetrical skis or twin tips) to my surprise when measured whole bunch of skis from 160 cm 180 cm on all of them binding installed where heel of the boot have same distance from the tail. Even when boot is different size still same distance.

What I'm missing?

Took another measurement on couple years old 4frnt 185 cm. Same story identical distance from back of the boot to the tail compared to my 170.

What is correct method of locating boot center/camber center/sidecut center ?

its different for every ski and core profile and shape.
Length of sidecut and sidecut center and where you ski from,ie ball of foot flat, heels, ect. have allot to do with this.
"New school" skis will be more likely closer to center mounted as the running length is shorter and the tail is longer and rockered.
Its all in the design of the ski.
a general rule of thumb is around 55/45.
Search on here there are several threads with info from pros and designers cadman.
