edges with unknown materials

Post by JoseSnow »

Hi,
So I cut a hellbent and took a piece of edge out and this is what I found:

It has like a king of yellow glue in the teeth and in the middle an orange thing. It is not VDS.
Do you know what it could be?

Thank!

The yellow glue is a 3M neoprene contact adhesive.

I tried some tests with it, and wasn't happy with my results (I was able to pull the edge right out of the "ski"). But I don't know the exact process that they do, so I'm sure there is a right way to use the glue.

It's actually interesting seeing that the contact adhesive is only on the very edge of the teeth. When I did it, I was pretty liberal, and had it going right up to the edge, which I think prevented epoxy from bleeding in there, and that's why I could pull it out.

Now I'd like to try again with just a tiny amount on the edge of the teeth. I think i still have a can of the glue, but it might be bad by now...

This video is from Line who K2 owns. I think they use the same glue.
