Tip spacer only tip and tail
Im getting ready to press my first board soon and i feel like it would be easier to cut off the tip and tail of my board and just use tip spacer than have to cut the spacer around my core. my only concern is that it would be too soft and have way too much give. any advice would be great. also, i plan on super gluing inserts to the base as locating pins for my core but i hear that leaves indents on the base and they dont make it all the way to the topsheet. again, any help is appreciated

We used the inserts as guides. We did it just for one in the front set and one in the back. We did get a bump for each. The solution for us was very quick and dirty... we added extra clearance for these two inserts so that they could freely come up through the core. Board is in the vac mold press right now. I'll let you know how it pans out. Eitherway, my take is that the reason you get bumps is that the inserts need more pressure than you're putting in your process if you let them be an interference fit.
