Delamination - Topsheet - Quick question
Ive managed to do my first skis with a vacuum pump, everything went quite ok except the delamination of the topsheet. If feel that the amount of the epoxy was enough (around 550g per ski)
I sanded the topsheet with smooth sandpaper.
Is the only way to get the topsheet to bond to epoxy to flame it?
or has the vacuum dried the toplevel of epoxy (last layer of fiberglass and topsheet) so there is not enough epoxy to bond?

Maybe I am lucky but I never flame anything before layup. And I have done all sorts of wrong things such as clean with acetone, not wear gloves when handling materials, rip edges off and reglue, and not a single hint of delam. Of course I am much more careful now but I think most of what people think is necessary is not.

I was reading an old thread of Rockaukum's and I am still somewhat confused as to final topsheet, base, and tipspacer prep before layup. He mentioned a cleaner from Crown Plastics and I was wondering if it was necessary and still used by many on materials pre-layup; and what the proper sequence is between this treatment (if used) pre-layup [flame then treat, or treat then flame?] If it is a necessary treatment, are there any substitutes? (MEK, Methyl Alcohol, Toluene, Gunwash...) If not, just keep flaming away?and I have done all sorts of wrong things such as clean with acetone

Sorry for any threadjacking that may occur OP.
I've never flamed anything except some really old dirty tip spacer.
I washed it with acetone then flamed, no bonding issues.
I've only ever had 1 delam, still haven't figure out the cause but I must have screwed up somehow.

You don't even have a legit signature, nothing to reveal who you are and what you do...
