I have been having a slight problem with getting the bases flat in the tip and tails. The base end up getting a little convex. As you know by now I am using a vacuum system. Could the problem be that I dont have a good system for pre bending my tips..?

Those look beautiful! You're getting good! And yes, the convex is due to non-compliance with the form at the tip and tail...in your instance, not enough pressure.

Thanks Brazen :D

Thats what I was thinking. I guess building a real press is the next thing on my list of things to do... Difficult to find time with 2 small kids and a full time day job.

What do you guys think? Could something like this be used to pre bend the tips? Its a simple and cheap solution...

I tried a couple of boards with one of these, just a bit bigger. Worked great.

Check out this thread.

all about prebending base and edges.

You don't even have a legit signature, nothing to reveal who you are and what you do...

Best of luck to you. (uneva)

I like your pre-bender sam! :)
Still I don't (maybe I have) have any problems with bending the base and edges. Maybe it's the difference in the shape of tip and tail?
