cloth press vs. pneumatic press

Post by momentz »

hey Guys I recently have been gathering all my materials together for my skis but not my press yet. I was looking into ethier building a cloth or pneumatic press, I realized cloth would be much much cheaper to build overall, but money should not come in the way towrads building skis. So guys do you think I could build skis that are equal quality to the ones pressed in a pneumatic press? thanks so much

Well first off - a cloth press IS a pneumatic press. I think you just mean a cloth press vs some kind of fixed steel structure.

The quality of the skis will be the same regardless. The downfall of cloth is (not that I've ever done it), it looks like it would be a pain in the ass to get it loaded/wrapped/tubed/whatever, while you're already stressed out after the layup :)

With a steel frame you just toss it in and pump it up. But a steel frame is heavy, and takes up a lot of space.
