Press Help

Post by infinityskis »

well Im making a press with 9 steel tubing squares that I would slide over my mould, but I am worried that my MDF mold might bend under the pressure,

the steel tubing squares are 4"X2"x1/8" tubing perpendicular to each other and threaded rods spacing it out/holding the tubes together.

Thanks for the suggestions

1/8" steel is soft.

Post up a drawing and one of these guys will probably do a calc for you. Off the top of my head, I think it's going to deflect way too much. Especially assuming that the 2" is the vertical section.
