effective edge length

i am designing our big mountain ski. i am thinking 144-119-144 which gives you a 21m sidecut and an effective edge length of 1540mm on a ski 1850mm long. do you think that it will still be able to charge on groomers, there will be some early rise so i think it should be fine but want your opinions

I think you'll find that 21m will be a ton of fun on the groomers. I have a pair at 184CM (143-104-133) which I believe puts it around 23m radius, and they've been my ski of choice so far this year, with very little pow to speak of. The early rise does help, you're right.

Depends who is skiing on them I ski groomers all the time (not by choice) , that ski is really fat for a groomer. The 21m radius is inline w/ a GS ski so you probably won't be making short carving turns. I rarely see anything wider than 85mm waist-ed ski where I ski. IMO if you're planning on skiing groomers most of the time I would skinny the ski down, you can still keep the 21m raidus but something in the 12-18m range would be more fun.

i dont ski groomers all that much it is intended for big mountain skiing. but i have a pair of skis, the sir francis bacon from line, it charges through cruddand ice on groomers like nothing else. it is my all time favorite ski. i am trying to make something that skis just like it. so hopefully this is it.

the skis will be fg,carbon,bamboo,carbon,fg 2-10-2 hopefully it will be very playfull

The SFB was a great ski! Your layup plan seems good, what weight FG? also I've been told by a very well-trusted composite heavyweight that you want to keep your carbon to the outside (carbon, fg, bamboo, fg, carbon) to maximize it's effect.
