alternative rail materials?

Post by mikic1 »

Hi all,

I have lately been thinking a bit about how the board sports are going more green in terms of using bio epoxies and more eco friendly materials. However I have not encountered any attempts at eliminating the ABS rails for something more environmental friendly materials? Wounder why this is the case?

Has anybody in here been trying or encountered some alternative materials?

Sorry if this topic has been discussed before...

The next topic down discusses this somewhat. If you are looking to go green, you may want to look into using bamboo for your sidewalls. It is a common material here and fairly renewable. A lot of people use wood for their sidewalls. In terms of the actual energy expended to harvest the wood and bring it to market versus PE or ABS, I don't know. It would be pretty cool if you did some homework on this and let us know.
