Fire hose instead of topsheet

Post by chris »

hi all, im new to skibuilding and have just finished my first pair,

I wonder if someone has ever tried to bond a cut open fire hose onto the ski instead of graphic/ topsheet, I think the rubber layer should give good vibration damping ( and its absolutely waterproof)
..besides its a all new look
or is it just a damm stupid idea?

It would be damp alright, it would weigh a ton too. There's other ways to dampen a ski, no need to get that extreme. So lets see the first ski?

yeah sweet 2 mm of kevlar and fiberglass on top of the layup?
Super heavy and stoopid, imo.

thx for answers, it was just a idea on my mind, weight was my concern too
i´ve seen a rubber-like topsheet at a Kneissl which a skied last season, but they replaced it by an ordinary one in later models, seemed to be extremly vulnerable to scratches etc.

...will post pics of my ski by the end if the weeek
