The last skis I made I wanted to put a fast drying poly on them. Wanted to get them done asap.
I went to the local Home Depot looking for an exterior water based poly. But they don't have any. My experience w/ interior water based poly is that it dries very fast and can easily put on 4-5 thin coats in a day. Its has other problems that are trade offs, such as raising of the grain,....
Anyway I bought this stuff called Japan Drier by Kleen-Strip. It's an additive to oil based poly. Works pretty good. First coat took about 1.5-2 hr to dry to a sand-able finish. Applied 2 more coats about 1hr apart from each other. Apply thin coats.
Just found this at HeadMonkeys site : http://www.happymonkeysnowboards.com/Mo ... g/?paged=2
