Fish Scales!?!?

Anyone know where to get fish scale base material like for Cross country skis???

I wanna make fat skis with em, possibly for touring and such.

Any Ideas? I dont even know what to call em, much less how to search for the stuff.

Wouldn't be hard to just cut it into base material yourself. Time consuming, but easy. This won't be something you can just buy.

You could have a machine shop make a round die with that sort of pattern on it, and heat it and roll it across the base once the ski's made

I think it was gman or rockakum that made some scales cut into his base for touring with a router at an angled jig. Looked like it would work really well.
It was a placerville cali person that much I know.
