Finally finished this press, can I go be sick now?

Post by Brazen »

This took an embarrassing amount of time, and I probably spent too much money but hell, it WORKS! :-) I drilled all the holes by hand with a hole hog, blah blah. It was a cubic assload of work, and would have been impossible without all of the excellent advice here on this forum...thanks to all of you!!

No! You can't go and be sick! You have to show us some skis or boards first!
Just kidding. Nice and clean press! Nice floor in the workshop! :)

We all spend too much money :)

That's one beefy press. I'd love to have one like that but getting the material into my basement would be impossible. I'd have to build a garage/shed.... yup there goes more money :D Time to plant more money trees.

Yeah lol, I seem to remember something about "ship in the basement" :D I can sure squeeze some salamis with this one...and man, let me know how that money tree thing works out for you. I'm waiting on a shipment from crown (perpetually) and I'll post up some pics of the first pressings...unless they're more than awful. Like god awful. I can take being laughed at but hell, gotta draw the line somewhere, right? haha

Hey Fresh, the beams are referred to as 12-40 as I recall, it has to do with the weight per foot. They're 12 1/2" tall by 108" (9') long by 8" wide. Happy Monkey Snowboards website, as well as this forum has a ton of invaluable info on press building. I wish you the best of luck if you decide to do it, I'd never worked with metal before and was kind of surprised at how hard it is. I like wood. That doesn't sound right...

I've seen it in a couple of albums now, so I have to comment that I LOVE the poor-man's 3-point bending test under the wheel of a car. Not easy to quantify other than simply, "you'll never break this thing, ever. Trust us".

Yeah, it's actually easy to quantify...you just have to know someone else with a car haha
