Aluminum thickness for pressing?
How thick is the aluminum you are using for your Press lining, top and bottom and for plain cassette
At Pm gear we had 5mm base sheet and 1.5mm cassette, and a 1.5mm top sheet.
I always thought the base sheet was overkill and the others were a bit skinny
I am intending laying up straight on the press form (it will slide into the press) and thinking of doing away with a a sheet under the cassette. Less thermal mass to heat up.
Thinking of using 2mm or 3mm for everything.
What are you folks paying for ali? Here a 1.2m by 2.5m 3mm sheet is about 150 pounds (170Eur)

I made the same damn mistake.COsurfer wrote:1.2/blanket/1.2 I bought my sheets from www.onlinemetals.com
They are 400% overpriced. Find a local supplier and purchase wholesale. You may need a business license, I don't know what rules are in your state.
http://www.alaskancopper.com/ may ship out of state also, I don't know.
Once headmonkey clued me in I felt like I had been obscenely violated by onlinemetals. Those guys can seriously eat a bag of dicks.

Just to completely protect the heat blanket.chrismp wrote:4mm mdf / heat blanket / 1.5mm aluminum sheet / snowboard / 1.5mm alum. / heat blanket / 4mm mdf
why would you use aluminum under and over the blankets away from the board? the mdf doesn't heat up as much, so more heat is transferred to the casette.

These guys hack me off sometimes, as some of their sales reps try and price above their list price. If you have other quotes to hand (internet) they will find you a 'saving'.
Check to see if they can cut for you - I believe they can.

I guess I should go .050"=1.27mm but I have a bunch of .062"=1.57mm I guess.
I got 16ga when I should have gotten 18ga?
17ga would be perfect, still stout but easier to bend than the 16ga.
.25" hardboard/heater/1.57mm AL/ski/1.57mm AL/cattrack
ONline metals is wayyyy cheaper then my local shmucks will do, business account or no.
Unless I want to order several 5x10sheets or whatever. douches.
I live in the middle of nowhere I guess.

I used metal supermarket... http://www.metalsupermarket.com
way cheaper that online metals and a few other suppliers. What is great about them is they do not charge extra for custom lengths.
I got (100) 3/4" x .12" @16.25" alum tubing
12 sheets of .043" 16x83" alum sheet
(1) 1/4" x 16"x84" alum plate
It came to $696 and thats with shipping.[/url]
