No update from the workshop today.
Instead I installed a printer I bought the other day. This was in the package:

Too funny! One of the late night talk shows (Letterman or Leno) does a spot on stuff like this. Got to love it.

Workshop update! "Vacu-Master-3000" soon ready for action!

After some lazy weeks I had some progress with my new press frame. As you might know, I'm one of the "vacuumers". And a press frame is one approach of many. I used a small bag (tube) before but felt it was a little too tricky so a press frame, it should be.
The whole idea is taken from JoeWoodworker. Check sammers an lucacastys journals aswell! My addition is a steel frame. Which didn't add that much weight, but very good stability!
I think this will be good. Atleast for me. I will increase my production with 100%! Two skis at the time. :)

However there is a tiny, tiny leak somewhere, which I have to find before production. Tomorrow I will do some serious mold-making.

Have a good evening!
It's saturday evening now, and no more ski building today!
I will have some steady Gin&Tonic now!
Cheers!

Looking good...
I got a response back from diversified silicone.
They are going to send me a sample of their vacuum membrane .125" thick.( just over 3mm)
Hopefully it's a 1mx3m sample :D
But I doubt I'll have that kind of luck.
They still won't tell me the price :?
Maybe one day soon I'll have a flashy press like yours.

You don't even have a legit signature, nothing to reveal who you are and what you do...

Best of luck to you. (uneva)

Thanks guys!

@sammer: An observation, the membrane I use is 1.5 mm thick and is pretty "strong" when NOT under pressure. Just so you know, if you will get a free sample 1m x 3m, 3mm. :)

Have you tried throwing a piece of polyethene over the silicone sheet to see if it can help you locate your leak. Like testing for a hole in a cycle tyre, but in reverse. It doesn't have to be strong enough to form around your mould, it just needs an OK seal, so that you can see it deflate when you switch on your pump. Once you know the general area, you can go smaller until you find the leak and plug it :)

Hope this is helpful!

Yes, that might be something....actually I suspect the table. So I will put a plastic sheet over the whole surface. And change the outlets. After that I will try your idea. Thanks.

That looks like a sweet setup. Nice going. You should change the name to BFV-9000

Eric: The name change hasn't been approved.
The Vacu-master-3000 has gone thru an update. The table are now plastic. And the leak is more or less gone. Some leak there are, but not critical. I can run the pump once, 18 sec., every 45 min at 27 inHg.
I smell victory! :)

Now it's only the rest...I will receive the new template tomorrow. Cnc'ed somewhere in the city. So plans for next week: pressing skis!
