2.5mm edges

Post by gketcham »

I am noticing a lot of the independent ski companies are using 2.5mm edges. Does anyone know where I can get some edges this fat? I have not found them anywhere. Thanks

I was looking for the same edge (2.5) I had a discussion with the crew at Folsom Skis about it. They used to use those(2.5) and have dropped down to a 2.0 with a 1.3MM step. ( i believe) They dont have any problems with the smaller size and they save weight. I just ordered some 1.3mm step edges and the flanges are small! I will give them a shot and see what happens.

there are only two edge manufacturers in the world as far as i know. I looked into (as did others) getting them tooled here in the states. The price couldnt be matched at $3-4 an edge. The tooling cost is crazy high.

We all might have to deal with CDW:http://www.cdw.de/Products/Profiles/1_334.html

good luck. I have the profile sheets and PDF with onfo if you want it

Sorry I never thanked you for the info, but did you happen to ask Folsom Custom where they got the fatty edge? It just seems like that size would be a beefier stronger edge against core shots and stupid jibs in powder. I could very well be wrong though.

2.5mm edges for NZ

Post by richie »

Hi Guys, now my press is complete I'm starting to accumulate materials. From offshore I need base material and tip/tail and have been in touch with Crown Plastics so thats covered, inserts I have sorted, only other think I need offshore is edges and I would like to start with something meaty - my young boy is hard on his skis , and typical NZ ski field off-piste its pretty easy to find a good rock. So for my kind of volume I really only need to get hold of 10-20 edges to get me started. I have a US CA address to send goods to, would someone be able help me out here? I am happy to pay a small premium considering the effort and time this would take.

Thanks
Rich

Contact Mark Zajac, he's doing sales at CDW edges.
mark@cdw-db.com

The edges available are in the last post of this thread, click and download the file:
http://www.skibuilders.com/phpBB2/viewt ... 6&start=30

I sorted out the info and asked him for a total package price included the shipping of 50 edges to Canada, costed me $220 which is 80$ freight and 7,somthing tax.
Hope this helps, GL.

I can only help you with some 2.0 x 2.15 mm edges. These are already fatter than the regular onces used by most companies.
