Building on the cheap, really cheap

I can't thank everyone enough for the info you guys post up here. I've LURNT so much from you guys.

I want to build a press so badly, but man it gets seriously expensive. I know, it always starts cheap then cost build like crazy. I just built a longboard press derived from snowboard presses in which I was able to build for about $60. That was pretty easy, but damn I keep running into expenses from upgrades to materials.

As I look for opportunities near me to get a hold of cheap parts it just doesn't show its face enough. I salivate over finding free or at least cheap I beams.

Anyone have stories about cheap and dirty ideas they have come up with to find parts for fabricating their press or finding cheap materials?

Cheap and dirty is how I like my women and snowboard presses.

well, I just went through the same process. I started thinking about a steel press, then moved onto a wood beam press, and finally decided to do a cordura press. I picked up the materials to build the main structure of the frame for $30, and I am projecting the rest of the pres will run around $100-200 more for the bladder and the molds. It is definitely the cheapest way to go.
