Helicopter Tape

Has anyone tried any of these as a semi-permanent top sheet?

Or there is something called 'chip protection tape' used on cars, which appears to be the same thing.

I've looked into another one of the 3m protective tapes... it was 1200 for a roll so I'd check on the prices..

10 GBP for one sheet 480mm x 2000mm - doubt it is genuine helicopter tape, but stone chip protection.
