Hi all,
I have a press that i started building a while ago. It is based on the design of the pneumatic press that the lads at GRAF made a few year ago. It is made from 6 sections of 125mm RSJ beam, has a caterpiller track made from 20mm square steel tube, a bottom mold made from structural 19mm ply, and two bladders made from 150mm dia. high pressure rubber hose. The press also sits on 4 large casters to enable it to move around.
About 18 months ago i has a pretty bad bike accident and completely separated my shoulder from its socket and have only recently had the plates out and been given a clean bill of health by my surgeon. I've also given the ok to get back into boarding, (just in time for the snow in Oz to melt!) Because of this I've not been able to finish the press. I really just need to seal up the bladders, get some Aluminium sheet to line the mold, and it's ready to go.
Anyway, now I'm moving from Melbourne to Perth because of my work, and given that WA dosen't get any snow, i can really justify lugging a several hundred kilo pneumatic press across the Nullabor.
If anybody wants to snag themselves a press, (and some materials like glass, resin, topsheets, binding inserts, maple and kauri strips for core building, a few templates, etc.) then you just need a trailer and a mate to help you lift it on. I need to move it out of my shed in 4 weeks.
I will take a few pics this week, and will post them asap.
Cheers,
Andy. S.
