Bladder Material

Post by snap-the-weasel »

Anybody have current info on finding 12" high pressure discharge hose for a press air-bladder? Saw some earlier posts of folks trying to nail down a distributor who may sell in smaller lengths but unsure where that ended up. I only need 10' but would be willing to go in on a longer length with someone in my area (Colorado).

Kidde fire company i believe is the name, let me find it here...
Kidde Fire Fighting, www.kidde-fire.com

they distribute a hose called "angus super aquaduct"
look for it, they have it in 12 inch and 10inch
12 is rather large, its like 20-22" wide at rest, i'd go for the 10" or maybe even 8" if they got it.

I spoke with US rep for Angus for state of California and another one for east coast (I believe in Virginia) They both said that it costs about 80 bucks per foot (!!!) also they have to get cut offs like that from UK where the hose is actually manufactured so you have to add shipping cost. I tried to get 12" hose from Mandals (the one Endre is showing off any time he has a chance ;) ) They charge about 80 dollars per meter but on top of that you have to add 160$ for shipment and extra 30 $ for international transfer of monies. I personally settled for 6 inch local deal 2$ per foot but still hope that one day I will get cheaper 12"....
I hope this helps, let me know if you find a better deal

Thanks for the info - sounds way too spendy for our humble pursuits.

I also got on the Kidde firefighting website last night and looked at the specs for that the Angus Super Auquaduct. Did you know it's only rated for 158 degrees F? That's right up into the heating zone we're trying layup in. I personally would like a little more wiggle room with my material tolerances.

So the search goes on. Firefighting hose still seems to be the best alternative as it has better heat resistance. I'll post anything I find that seems more reasonable ($).

my hose has several years and over 1000 boards of use on it, at 200 degrees.

Most of which was with the heat blanket right on the hose, seperated only by a layer of felt.

We heat differently now, so the amount of heat actually hitting the hose is less.

I'll get you my contact for kidde fire, because 80 per foot doesnt sound right.
