The smooth on pot life is short as well.
When I mix I try not to add air into the mixture.
I can see some bubbles when pouring and the first batch there were some small air pockets.

I started to pass a flame over it to pull the bubbles out and that is working well. I'm getting a few dots on the surface from the bubbles popping, but otherwise good results without sucking the air out before. Probably 95%+ effective.

I just ordered some smooth-on 305 for a trial. I have a routed core ready for it so I can pour it as soon as I get it and see how it flexes. I will report back with results.

Chris and Montucky, what size batches did you end up ordering from Chemtura? I am being told the min order is 5gal A and 5gal B...a 10gal kit is a pretty pricey test.

I don't order from Chemtura directly. I have a local supplier here in Austria. They sell batches starting from 2kg.
