Building a snowboard - i only know skis?!

Hi, I know that this might have already been posted in some for on the forum, but I simply cant seem to find it..

I have build a pair of skis (photos coming in another post) where the lay up was like this:

Base + edge
22oz (620g) Triax glass
Core
22oz (620g) Triax glass
5cm wide 120g unidirectional carbon stringer
120g plain glass

They worked way beyond expectation!
Now my girl friend have asked if i can build a board for her. She needs a 150cm all mountain board and she is around 65-68kg.

I know as little as John Snow about snowboards, and even after alot of reading i cant find a good answer to what type of lay up that would fit.

I know that it should be less that the skis because of the wider board.

How does this sound:

Base + edge
22oz (620g) Triax glass
Core
160g carbon twill
120g plain glass
?

All the best,

Tobias

PS
This is one of the best forums i have ever found ;)

You can keep using the same 22oz glass top and bottom. The only thing you need to do is make the core way thinner than your ski cores. For example, the board I built for my girlfriend (58kg) is 152cm long and the core (spruce) is 6.2mm thick in the middle and 2mm at the ends.

Thanks!

Just what i needed !

That does seem thin, but i guess the glass will make up for the strength :)

Yeah with that glass weight 6.2mm will work really well. Remember that a small increase in thickness makes a huge difference on a board too. If you use 620 gram triad with a 6.6mm core you end up with a stiff, unforgiving plank.

That is very good to know, that 0.4mm will make a big difference.

Do you have some hints as to how much of the core would be "flat"? And do you make the core the full length of the board? I have seen this done on multible videos.
On skis the core is maybe ~ 70% of the length of the skis.

I made skis with only 4cm ABS in the tail and none in the tip. Lots of linseedoil and you are fine.

I usually extend the flat section to the outer inserts.

As for the cores, I always have an 8mm wide sidewall going all around the core since I pour my sidewalls with polyurethane resin.
