Camber

Post by ross »

Hi guys,

When you are designing the ski and the mould, how do you design the camber. The mid boot postion is normally set back from the middle of the ski, so do you offset the maximum hight of the arc (of the camber) to this point or do you keep it in the middle?? Hope this makes sence.

Cheers guys

Hi Ross,

These are just my thoughts but for an alpine skier I would align the maximum height of the arc (of the camber) to the location where you intend to have your boot's center. I would also align the ski's sidecut to this location as well.

Teleskiing is a little different. Most tele skiers like to mount their bindings so that the ball of the foot is at the middle of the ski. So our camber and sidecut just happen to be at the middle of the ski. Hope I made things a little more clear for you.
