Hello all - in my last pressing I treated myself to a new aluminium sheet for the mould base (to go over the forms) - in the past I had used 3mm acrylic, but as I said I decided to treat myself. Long story short - I didn't put enough mould release onto the aluminium with the result that excess resin, glass fibre and a bit of veneer topsheet has adhered to the aluminium.

Any ideas on how I can get it off?

thanks

Gentle chip/pry with a chisel, careful sanding.

I'd go at it with a putty knife and hammer, once you get a good edge on some of the spots, much of it will probably pop off. Then give it a good sanding, and even polish if you want. Then wax like crazy.

I had something similar on my first pressing. Depends on the thickness of aluminum it's my never go back to being flat afterwards.
As suggested cheese out what you can grinding or belt Sander was you can't. My cassettes 22gauge steel can take much more abusive even so surface got well scratched up second time around I used other side
I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.

*Aluminium :)
That sounds awesome. Could you incorporate the base into the edge or would it be soft?

I was actually joking.
The thread is about a board getting stuck to the cassette.
I didn't mean to actually do it on purpose, but if you build it let us know how it rides.

I have solved the issue by turning the sheet over! As has been advised - more mould release.

Thanks for your suggestions
