Edge wrap question

Post by fergmatt »

I just pressed my first pair of skis with the help of my father in law. For my next pair, I would like to not wrap the edges completely around the tail and tip. My question is what do I need to do differently rather then a full edge wrap? Do I need a different type of tip and tail spacer?

why would you need different spacer? That's for the core. Just terminate the edge into the base past the contact points. I noticed on some of mine that the edge had a tendency to want to pull away at the termination point. I suggest you detemper at those points the same way you would for full edge wrap.

From the ON3P site showing the notch in the base material that is needed to recess the edge.
From what I have read it seems best to avoid terminating the edge on a sharp curvature as it has a tendency to try and pop away from the ski
