Orion's

Post by Orion »

OK, I finally kicked out a pair. My inaugural pair is called the Ghetto Fly. They are 184cm and ~ 138 - 108 - 128. They have a Pine and Poplar laminated core that is about 9mm thick underfoot. The sidewalls are wood and the tip spacers are glass. For the graphics I used green cotton fabric with logos and such printed on regular computer paper. The top sheet is clear cellulose acetate that I got cheap at the Boeing Surplus Store.

I have not skied them yet, but so far I am pretty happy with them minus a few learning points.

-They feel too soft. The next pair will likely need to be stiffened under foot - we'll see after a ride.

-They have very little camber ~3-4mm. My mold did not account for loss of camber at a RTA cure. No worries - they're powder boards.

-I'm afraid my topsheet did not bond very well. It is already delaminating on the edges from the trim operation.

Here are a few pictures. The funny URL is because of the ten post spamming rule.

Nice, shiny skis! Sorry about the URL posting rule. So far it's the most effective thing we've got to prevent the spammers from ruining the board. Hopefully we can find something better in the future.

thanks for posting my link. The 10 post rule is fine - see I'm one post closer to ten. :D
