Norsk Custom 2012/2013

Post by Jekul »

It's been a long time since I posted some pictures of my progress. Pictures and short descriptions below for the last 3 pairs (same shape/profile) I've made.

Experimental pair for my wife (lucky gal!) with a mosaic of repurposed (leftover) veneer pieces.

Very impressed with the detailed topsheet provided by Miller Studio. I was pleasantly surprised by the clarity of this tiny logo.

And lastly a skwal I did for a customer in Mammoth. It's basically a snowboard with ski dimensions (2.2-11-2.2). Super stiff with a layer of CF on the bottom and 13mm of camber. I'm waiting for feedback on the performance of this rocket.

Serial Number and "Fire and Ice Birch" Detail. I debated doing anything by hand, but then decided it added a very nice personal touch.

Thanks Deep. Sure is fun to build, but now I'm out of my core supply, so back to the first steps of ski building!

Regarding the skwal...where do you start your flex taper from 2.2-11? Do you keep it flat at 11 until after the rear binding? I love skwals!
Cheers

For the skwal I took a ski template (basically flat under foot for ~24" have to pull up the cad drawing for exact dimensions), and then had a linear taper from there.

Basically I had a ski core already profiled when the request for a skwal came in, so I just added some width from a scrapped-out core and went to work. So really the taper started before the end fo the bindings...
