Top Sheet

Post by gladegp »

One more question. Do you only use printed paper as top layer in your skis and then laquer afterwards? Do they hold up ok even without a plastic topsheet?

I can never seem to get all the bubbles out underneath my plastic topsheet and if anything delaminates it is always the topsheet so eliminating this, especially when vacuumbagging, really seems like a good idea.

Yes, I use a varnish aimed for agricultural machines! :) (At least it says so on the can...)
And yes, plastic top sheet + vacuum bagging = difficult/problem.

I used, but I ran out of it. And then I found this. And I can buy it locally.
To be honest it can't differ that much...it's also 2k polyu.
The result is the same, hard and crisp clear surface.

I just thought it was funny they mentioned agricultural machines as a use for it. :) ...among other areas. (Not skis... :) )
At least it somehow assure the protective ability.

You mention in page 2 that you have done something to eliminate snipe from profiling; I am very curious what that is. Also, how do you manage to seal the silicone between the aluminum frames.
