chrismp wrote:funny that you mention it...Idris did the same thing with his roll (way bigger coil, he got 70m...i cut your 20m off that roll) and he had the same problem!
please let me know if it helps to just let the bases lay for a while before cutting them.

i didn't get a chance to try it myself, but if this is a recurring problem I'll call Okulen.
Yes, I will cut out a couple of "sheets" and "strips"(ski size) and let them rest. One thing could be that the roll was very tight. It might help to "re-roll" it to a bigger size? As I answered Brazen, I think it's more of a mechanical issue, than a temp.
I will post my observations.

I'm going to try the cut out and rest process. I am also trying to re edge the bases I've already cut using SHIF's process to see if I can save them.

Never had this problem with the Black base that plywood helped me get.

BUT I have had unusable stuff from crown in the past. They were even too bad for force into a dish type mould with brute force!

Glad I checked the forum this afternoon. Was getting ready to cut out the bases today for a set of skis I'm making for a friend. I'll cut the 2 strips out and let them rest. Shape and attach edges tomorrow.

Not that I have vast ski building experience but I make sure to clamp my cut material to my template immediately and I don't unclamp it until my edges are fully attached.

Things have worked out under varying shop temperatures without any issues so far :)

In between builds, I found this one on a pile of beers in the store:

if I designed my own skies they would be cloudy and filled with nice light snow all the time and little wind.

The 7:th pair done! A pair OAC-8's for a friend going to St. Anton next week! Good to have someone else testing and giving feedback.
Changes from previous versions: Increased the core thickness with one(1!)mm, from 10 to 11mm at the thickest part, 2 - 11 - 2
Two layers of triax, under and over the core.
Heat, 80°C for an hour, ramp down to room temp.(20°).
All that together = Stiffness!!!

Made two mistakes:
Too much epoxi near the tips. Heat = lower viscosity = flows better. Somehow it got "collected" in one of the tips. Looks stupid, but it's solid.
Stressed, didn't put the "breather" in. The heat, epoxy and the rubber membrane on the "Vaccu-master-3000" reacted with each other! It's a hole in it now! It's always something....:)

Besides that, they will probably ski well! :)

PS: The warped base issue is solved. I suspect that one side of the roll has more tension than the other. But it's easy to force it back in shape when putting the edges on when it's attached to the template.

My first delam!!
I've got these back. And they have delaminate! And I thought I did everything right this time. I thought the bond between the core and FG was the easiest one eg. the best bond??
The only thing I can think of is that I didn't let it after cure that long...three days...
The FG peels off very easy as you can see in the picture!

Wow. That sucks. Dust or dirt on the core? Maybe you need to abraid the core more for vacuum. Never seen somthing like that in a pneumatic setup.

No (not this time :) ..it has happened though)
I think MM is right, I will abrade the core on the next build!
...and the mechanic/pneumatic press build comes closer also..
