Where to buy a silicone sheet for a vacuum press?

Post by wdwyeriii »

I am looking to buy a silicone sheet for a vacuum press. I live in Norway, so it is easier if it was coming from Europe. I heard some Chinese companies can ship.

Does anyone know a spot I can get one?

I bought mine here: https://www.modulor.de/en/silicone-shee ... rless.html

It's a German shop and the pricing is pretty decent.

I forgot to write and say thanks for the link!

I ordered one, hooked it up and it is working well. Very appreciated.

Anyone know any places in North America that won't cost an arm and leg?

Nope, but I've been contemplating it too to make a reusable large silicone vacuum bag with only one open end, but have always been turned off by the price. If you go this route, please let us know your experiences.

The estimator at their website says you will need around 10 kg per m² for a 9.5mm thick sheet (this seems awfully thick...the silicone film I use is only 1mm). So, let's say you want a film with 2mm thickness, you will need approximately 2.1 kg per m². For a sheet with 2400x700mm (1.68 m²) you will need 3.5 kg, so four quart kits should be enough with a bit left. That makes a 134 USD vacuum sheet, which seems alright. But I would call smooth-on to clarify if a 2mm thick film would be thick enough for your application.
