So I finally got to ski my own skis today. I had them mounted with a demo binding to allow for fore-aft experiments and to allow friends to ski them.

I tested them in a variety of conditions today from groomers to cut up pow to soft snow, small bumps and pow filled trees. We got about a foot of snow over the past week up at Smuggs with 3-4 inches overnight. There was plenty of fresh snow to play in today if you knew where to look.

first impressions of this pair
1. fairly light even with the demo binding
2. long radius turns with good edge hold on firm snow
3. tips are maybe a bit soft but not noodles either
4. tail is fairly stiff. I'd give the overall flex of this ski a medium to medium stiff rating. Some of this is related to the amount of camber they have
5. they seem stable a speed but I did not get them up too fast today due to the wrong wax for the day
6. tips were a little hooky but this is more likely a tuning issue as I did not de-tune the tips or tails
7. floated well in boot deep pow but the extra camber is counter productive in deep snow.
8. the JB weld wood epoxy on the sidewalls to fix my router slips held up fine
9 the spar varnish scuffs easily
10 they did not fall apart and no signs of delam after about 3-4 hrs of skiing.

All in all I'm fairly happy with their performance and appearance for the first pair. There is definitely room for improvement in several areas.

I now have about 3 days of skiing in on this set. They are holding up great with no signs of delam. The JB weld wood epoxy on the sidewall is also holding up well.

More and more I like these skis. I had my friend that welded my press on them today and he was impressed with their performance. We did notice that the shop screwed the mount up by .5 cm on one binding. I kept blowing out of the same ski and could not figure out why. But when we went to adjust the demo plate to my buddy's boot we noticed the problem. I think I'll just pull both toes and remount them about an inch back to allow for more adjustment of the demo track. (toe is all the way back and the tip seems too short.)

My initial feeling on the characteristics of the ski are still pretty close. I feel they are pretty stable at speed and I can push them to my limit on speed and terrain with confidence that the ski will perform. The exception is a bit of wash on icy stuff due to the bases being uneven/ small base bubble due to excess epoxy.

Overall this ski has surpassed what I thought it would be for my first try.
