Dec. 28, Mt. Baldy backcountry

So, did they work, and how were they? Show everyone proof that your ride was a success (or even a complete failure)!

Dec. 28, Mt. Baldy backcountry

Post by bigKam »

My two brothers (Dee and Pat), Little Kam, and I went out to get some fresh air outside of the Mt. Baldy ski area in So. Cal. Little Kam and I brought skis with the hope of using them. I felt the conditions were pretty good, but Little Kam would disagree :)

We found some coverage on north facing slopes, but unfortunately the snow was dangerously icy. Had the slopes been less than 35 degrees and with better runout, the turns would have been doable in such conditions. Little Kam was on his BD pros and I was on my newest pair, this one (this is the third time I've skied them). Despite the conditions, we made the best of it by touring around, enjoying a nice hot lunch prepped by Dee who brought is canister stove, and scoping out a few lines for our return trip when conditions are more favorable.

Ski it! Looks good to me... Skier: Little Kam; Skis: LittleK's BD pro.
