Your second picture is what I am talking about. You need to define x as the distance from the centre of your core blank to its end and y as your desired height at the centre of your core. This can then be used to set the height of t on your crib. The trouble with this method is that it doesn't give ...

I agree with your maths. Using tan you come up with a height of about 26.7 I think the trouble is that this process doesn't allow for the fact the core is 2.5mm thick at your starting point. It is actually calculating the angle to go from 0 thickness to 13mm over that distance. This creates a sligth...

You could also use hot glue or double sided tape to attach the core to the jig rather than clamping it as I imagine the clamps get in the way.

can we have some pictures of these edge free skis? also can get edges from snowboard materials, but general talk suggests they are slower and not as good at communication. http://snowboardmaterials.com/pages/Ski%20Materials.htm http://www.skibuilders.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1818 there is a sticky...

Die cutting

Anyone used one of these before?
Pretty sure it wouldn't be able to cut through base material though :([/url]

Picked up a few more things today 100 pieces aluminium square tubing for cattrack - 3mm wall, 20mm by 20mm by 400mm long. Best thing was they had an automated cutter so they made the 100 cuts for me!! Unfortunately I still have to drill the 400 holes :( $240 including cutting for 2m long cattrack ht...

yeah I saw that video. The bandsaw moves rather than the core I think? would have to be computer numeric controlled I reckon to feed the core at the right rate and move the bandsaw at the right rate. By the way - not taking away from what you have achieved. Very quick and impressive. The question of...

Yeah the horizontal bandsaw would be better than vertical. I thought also that wheels on either side of the bandsaw blade to keep the core on the crib is the way to go. It is really just like using a thicknesser only quicker because you need only one cut. I wonder if you could modify a thicknesser t...

If you made a jig like you would use for the planer method and put it on the side it could work. You would need to be able to fix the core to the contour of the crib then just run it past the bandsaw using a parallel fence offset at the right distance. The idea would be a bit like doughboys router s...

You can link to the individual pictures with the tag Maybe some explanation of your proposed method might be good. I am struggling a bit with the concept from just the pics. It looks like you are proposing a router bridge and the sled is kept from rising off the rails by the springs, but the springs...

Hi skidesmond With your full length wood core - are you prebending the core before you lay the ski up? On topic: Volkl gotamas from a few years back had wood sidewalls as well. I think for me anyway when I damage the sidewalls I feel it is my fault rather than the manufacturers. I think if you provi...

Bamboo is pretty hard so it might be just friction?

The floorboards use a laquer conatining aluminium. I don't know what type of glue they use to laminate them. It might be possible that the glue holding what I assume is a laminated bamboo for your sidewalls, is causing the sparks?

I measured my vacuum channels. The cutter looks to have been 12 or 13mm diameter (about half inch). 5 mm depth.
