the black stuff is some kind of spacer ... the woodcore must have ended earlier. only one pair of the pontoons are mine, I got a fairly good deal on them and the second pair is for a friend of mine. I know, I'm very lucky to be able to use all that equipment ... I guess I'm less a hardcore skibuilde...

I...

Ok, but now for my own skis ... first of all I'll introduce the press. To be honest, I'm really glad I can use all this equipment because it makes everything super smooth and easy. I'm working in the carpenter and joiner factory of my father in law. I usually help him out when there is a lot of work...

lets make skis

So, as my project is finally working out, I thought, I'll post my progress here. But to begin, here are two different völkl skis I cut in half to take a quick look inside. This ski is a usual Völkl P40. The woodstrips are 5mm wide. http://img110.imageshack.us/img110/1738/img2470wa1.jpg The second sk...

I rethought about it ... maybe, as salomon is the only manufacturer still really producing foamcore skis, the solution is a cap construction to keep it all together. Propably the core enclosed in a glasfiber tube - torsion box like. combined with a some kind of binding plate to keep the screws from ...

the best, most reliable, solution would be in my opinion to build a torsion box ... but I havent figured out how to construct one, or to be more precisely, how to make one that fits into the amateur pressing process I do. However, I've cut one of my old racing slalom völkls (racing lab, wc ski, p30 ...

use a vacuum press ... it pressures with about 8 tons if youre pump manages to suck down to 200 milibars, thats much more than any press that usees the hose/hydraulic system will ever be able to do.
