Re: First core design ever
How are you planning on doing your core profiling? I've found that I got a lot of tearout using a planer on birch even with sharp blades. Other methods probably won't have that problem though.

Someone should buy this.
I wish I had a little more room and I would buy this. Grindrite ST 1800XL. Anybody have one of these and can comment? Someone buy this before I am tempted to upgrade from my ST 600.

I have also got my builds dialed and I don't really plan on buying different equipment mostly due to the fact that I don't have the room for it and I don't want to turn it into a business. I don't want it to get in the way of skiing! The forum is still the best source of current info as the main web...

Unfortunately I don't think new users are getting approved so we don't have any new blood. I personally wasn't able to log in for close to a year after having some problems with changing my email address. Every summer I keep saying I am going to bust out some new builds but work and play gets in the...

Not much to see. It basically looks the same except the new one is way softer and isn't all glazed like the old one. After I removed the old one I saw a sticker on it from Contact Rubber and realized they made the original so I was glad to see that they were the experts in the field. https://i.imgur...

I finally got around to getting my contact wheel for my Grindrite ST600 resurfaced. Whether it was designed way too hard from the factory or just got hardened over the last 20 years or so, it was time to get it done. The wheel felt almost as hard as the steel platen. I wasn't really happy with the r...

Here's a pair I made as a birthday present for my sister. I based them off the Salomons QST 92 that she skied and liked. Length 161 cm, 120-92-110, 15 m turn radius. All bamboo core and sidewalls with a separate section of bamboo as tail filler and regular UHMW tip fill. I used bamboo as the tail fi...

Simply gorgeous. I know what you mean about getting topsheets absolutely perfectly centered. I've got it down pretty good now but I still design my graphics so if they are a couple mm off it is unnoticeable. Even if they are laid perfectly sometimes they move a little when pressing, just like my VDS...

I have experimented a bit with convex bases. I shimmed my mold to achieve the desired effect. The skis were designed for powder mainly but they skied well in all conditions and they performed better than anticipated carving on hard snow. The only drawback I found was they were very difficult to get ...
