How are those of you without a bandsaw/ table saw/ planer making your own cores? I bought my first 2 from snowboardmaterials.com, but they are kind of short. And I still want to build a ski from start to finish. My thought was ripping into 1.5 inch strips and gluing together. How well does that work...

My tip and tail are too thin.

How thin have you guys ever made your profile at the tip and tail? I am wondering if I'll need to put extra tip fill or glass at the ends to solidify it.

Thanks

Borrowing a press with good camber molds

I am wondering if there is anyone in Colorado with a press they could let me use. I need good camber molds and about 190cm length to work with. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I do not currently have a press for myself.

pm me if you can help.

Cypress cores.

Is anyone using cypress for cores or sidewall? I didn't bother looking up the elasticity or strength yet, Does it cut well and glue well?

Its either that or ipe for sidewall for me.

The shop I work at carrys only HEAD carving skis. I think for really getting on edge, the metal fairs better than composites or straight rubber because it makes the whole ski an even weight and flex. I have noticed that non metal skis dont feel as connected to the snow on edge. All this to say. Rubb...

WTB edge bender

The only thing that is hanging me up right now, is an edge bender. I don't want to take the temper off the edges and bend them that way. Anyone have an edge bender or have a really good cheap idea for building one? Thanks

A break in the ptex sidewall.

Are there downfalls to having two pieces of shorter ptex sidewall on one side of a ski. Or will that create a bad failing point? I have lots of small lengths of ptex sidewall. Just curious if I can get them fastened to each other to make a longer piece suitable for a longer ski.

Yeah thanks guys for the input. I found a thread on doing it with a vaccuum bag yesterday but just needed to know how it was really done. I have already ruled it out because it does seem like it requires money and things... And using the vaccuum bag doesn't seem very reliable. Well, onward and upwar...

I'm trying to figure out what the process is for making a cap ski. Does anyone know of anything of how its different than standard pressing. Just curious if I could get some info. Thanks
