Most important point to remember is that they have very good marketing. One example is their 60 degree biax fabric... ;) The cores are perforated and the grid are small channels for better resin flow, they probably use infusion but im not 100% sure about that. Therefore the webbing is maybe only for...

It's a great feeling when the machine starts to move.

Remembers me how I destroyed a pen on my first attempts... Attached a pen to the z-axis and loaded the roadrunner demo g-code into Mach3. But actually I had no idea what the z-axis will do :D

Have fun!

you must have it fully squared and calibrated before you "close it off" though with that top sheet of ply. otherwise you'd have to take that all off again. That looks like the cncrouterparts standard 4896 kit. Mostly cncrouterparts with some "metric" modifications ;) With this m...

Nice project and really cheap in my opinion! Will you add more cross-members to the frame? I would do that and then close it top and bottom with an OSB sheet and you will get a rigid torsion box. Thats at least what the cnc guys told me to do. http://www.jibboards.ch/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/IMAG0...

Thats the best you can get for the money. To save shipping I sourced my x/y-axis alu/steel locally (and in metric) but I use most parts from cncrouterparts.

I worked once with the same resin in low temps (~15°C) and found the viscosity not good. With 20°C + it flows much better.

My pump is running since yesterday evening for the first time. I bought a 16mm (inner diameter) hose (garden shop) as exhaust pipe which goes outside thourgh the window. Works perfect so far... 8)

Yes thats the what I meant with "oily dust".

I bought the pump because I need better vacuum for infusion (kiteboard). For normal laminating stuff I would prefer an oil-free pump!

I have one which is quite similar. The vacuum is very strong. The connector plug for the vacuum is crap -> I removed the whole connector which goes into the housing and replaced it because the screw thread was very strange. My fear is that the pump will make some "oily dust"... Cheers, Chr...

I think kiteboards are pretty similar... here is a source in english: http://www.kiteforum.com/viewforum.php?f=107 Most people do vacuum bagging.

The process is a lot easier than building skis/snowboards.

And you're absolutely right, probably 50% of the time is spent just building tooling, gathering materials, and planning things. 5% is spent doing the layup. 35% is spent fixing your mistakes, questioning why you got into this, gasping at the amount of money you've spent, and crying in the corner. ....
